Hey there! My name is Heather. I reside in the Northeast with my husband John and our cat name Diez, short for Diezel. I’m a mom-to-be due in September 2015, a Beachbody Coach and enthusiast for life. There is so much to be grateful for and for a long time I was just sleep walking through life. I was robotic in my day-to-day functions just waiting for the weekend to enjoy myself. Today I’m ALIVE! I appreciate waking up, what’s in store for me each day, and how I can add value to others. I’m a total foodie! I love finding healthy options that taste like treats and sharing it with others. Having faith in the unknown has changed the course of my world. I now consider myself a junkie for a positive mindset. Here’s the thing… I didn’t get to where I’m at overnight. Let me explain.
For the last decade I’ve been what people call “professionally and financially successful.” I’m an educated, kind soul who has always searched for fulfillment. Some choices thought through, some rash, some bold, some not-so-smart. Looking back now, my search for fulfillment was in all the wrong places. I was lacking in the love department. Love for myself. I grew up in a very loving home with 2 brothers and the most amazing parents one child could ever be blessed with. My friends too were very loving of me. But I could never find love for myself.
On December 31, 2012 it was time to take the bull by the horns and claim my life. I couldn’t go on any longer hating the body I lived in. Dreading Monday through Friday day dreaming of another life. I made a new year’s solution to fix the problem and the first place I started was to get healthy with exercise and nutrition. To be honest, I wasn’t all that sure how I was going to change my life but I knew that I needed to. Working out in a gym was just not for me. I was so insecure with myself that I would only do cardio on the treadmill or elliptical. I was spinning my wheels as to why I was not progressing forward if I was eating “healthy” and doing cardio – the one thing that is supposed to zap the pounds off. And that’s when I was invited to learn more on the Beachbody opportunity – the workout programs, the nutrition guides, and the coaches. This was the pivotal moment that changed my life, my health, my relationships with others!
Ever since Beachbody came into my life in February 2013, my search for fulfillment became full. I have never felt so passionate about something before. It has brought purpose to my days and peace within myself. Fulfillment with being ME and accepting my struggles, my victories, and knowing that I hold the power to make my life anything that I want. My transformation was so much more internal than external. I took time to find a healthy place working from the inside out.
Some of the major ways my life has changed:
♣ Exercise: I now view this as a privilege rather than a chore. I am able to workout in the comforts of my own home. If I look foolish, no big deal – no one can see me. I’m able to follow a program created by an elite trainer that has mapped out a proven system that delivers amazing results! I don’t have to think about what to do, how to do it, when to do it and if someone is staring at me while I do it. I have set an appointment in my calendar with myself everyday because this is my therapy. When I exercise, my mental health is so much better. My relationship with myself is world’s apart from when I wasn’t consistent in this area. Self-love is much easier.
♣ Nutrition: What we eat directly impacts how we feel. Food is either fuel or poison. There is no in between. I tried so many diets and latest fads always to find myself starting over. Nothing I did was sustainable long term (Atkins Diet, Counting Calories, Weight Watchers, etc). I thought I was feeding my body what it needed to be healthy when in fact I was consuming processed foods with artificial ingredients… all the wrong stuff. I was never taught WHAT to eat or HOW MUCH until I was introduced to Shakeology and the 21 Day Fix. With my own research, I’ve learned over the last year that nutrition is the number one factor in being healthy – even over exercise. You can never out-exercise a bad diet. The ingredients in our foods are what fuel our bodies or poison us to death. Be smart in the choices you make. What the FDA deems “healthy” is typically NOT healthy.
♣ Personal Development: Grow thyself. Coming to terms with the fact that I have areas I need to work on wasn’t always easy. Not for the sake that I think I’m perfect but for the simple fact that I didn’t know how or yet recognize areas that required some help. I learned that this element of my journey is the easiest way to have a phenomenal day. It sets the tone, gives perspective and adds value to areas that aren’t always clear. I’ve made this a non-negotiable part of my day. It’s the positive mindset junkie mentality that makes life worth living!
♣ Coaching: This is a two-fold part. Being able to pay all this forward to others has been even more rewarding than what I’ve done for myself. Talk about fulfillment… there is something so incredibly amazing about helping others find their way. What most of my clients don’t realize is that their goals and dreams keep my in check on mine. If it weren’t for coaching, I know that I would fall back to old, un-serving habits and ways. I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without this. It’s something YOU have to EXPERIENCE yourself. I know this path that I’m on, the mission I so strongly believe in is MY RIGHT PATH! It’s definitely not the easiest one but I couldn’t have landed in a better place.
I am also the founder of Team Choice Nation. I am able to lead a strong, group of women (and a few men) on how to create their life by design. To live their best life in every sense of the word. We work diligently every day to make a difference in the lives of others while we better our own selves. One of my favorite quotes is, “one can make a difference, but together we can change the world!” And that’s just what we are working together towards.
